Located on the banks of the Nile, Thebes, or better known today as Luxor is a city with great history. The name "Thebes" is derived from Greek and means "City of a hundred gates." Some call it the largest museum of the world.
Construction of the largest religious complex in the world, temples Karnak and Luxor lasted about 1,500 years. Without a doubt, this site is the Pyramids of Giza the second most visited monument in Egypt.
Temples were dedicated to gods of a few similar, Amun Re, the chief god - Montù, the son of Amon and Mut Re - the mother goddess.
Two temples are connected 1.8 miles long avenue of sphinxes with small borders. The most famous structure inside the temple are the 134 columns, arranged in 16 rows. 122 these columns are 32 meters in height, 12 about 68 meters.

On the way back to the city of Luxor, you pass the Colossi of Memnon. These two giant statues marked the entrance to the temple Pharaoh Amenhotep.
